Altered Abilities

Primal-Urge

  • Intuition, and Awareness are interchangeable for gifts and other requirements.

Ancestors

  • The Difficulty to call upon a Specific Ancestor (Diff 10-Tribal Lore)

Animal Attraction

Anyone using the Animal Attraction rolls IC against another PC will be subject to investigation and possible removal from the game.

Bastet Gift Swipe

  • Not all Gifts can be swiped - this is up to the ST TEAM (not a Single ST) to decide if a gift can be used by Bastet/Kitsune
  • Garou may roll rage when they witness a gift swiped or used by the Fera
  • Cost: Cost is +1 the Level of the Gift at the Cost of Out of Auspice Cost

Steps

Step 1: Observe the Gift: (Perc + Primal Urge, diff 6) [WP cannot be used]
Step 2: Learn the Gift: Intelligence + Occult, diff 6 + Level of Gift
Step 3: Must observe the Gift used in three DIFFERENT Scenes

  • The Character only needs to observe the Gift ONCE

Character Death

Character death is a very real possibility here in Sheridon. It happens. Since XP is per account, not per Character, XP stays with the player when making a new character. This XP cannot be spent on the new character made for 15 days time from the approval of a replacement character.

Clarified Merits

Supporter Merit

  • You need a Social Roll to Activate this Merit
  1. Character with Merit: -2 social dice while ACTIVELY Inspiring a group (2+people) to do something; Why? It is possible to fail or botch the social roll.
  2. Upon success the defined Group THEN gets +1 dice on any roll.

Calm Heart

  • This merit grants +2 diff to frenzy checks. Not 2 dice to frenzy rolls.

Crafting

Awakened Sept Forge

Use of the awakened community Forge Grants + 1 Die - 1 Diff Once Per Day/Downtime

On Chat Crafting

If you are crafting IC on the chat, you DO NOT need to roll anything. We will use this as a cinematic time for you to really display your Roleplay abilities rather than your Roll-play abilities. Items made during this time and in this fashion are NOT EVER Fetish quality. They are normal mundane things that can be sold.

Crafting on Downtime

We wanted to simplify the crafting rules in the game as well as reflect the time taken to create items. This is our crafting rules.

Apescraft's Blessing is NOT allowed to be used on the Planning Stage of Crafting. Only during the crafting.
Crafting in anything but Homid form has negatives as follows: Glabro +1 diff, Crinos +2 diff

ONLY ITEMS THAT ARE CRAFTED CAN BE MADE INTO FETISHES. Store bought items are not of high enough quality to satisfy a spirit.


Downtime

We have separated out "Downtime" to two different categories. These categories are MINOR and MAJOR downtime actions.

All Downtime Rolls are Made by the ST team

What Its Used For

This is where your character sheet is stored
All players are given a "Downtime" channel. This channel is used for multiple things and replaces our use of Forums.

MINOR Downtime

We have added in 2 minor downtimes (This is in addition to the 1 Major Downtime already implemented).

  • This represents taking 2-3 days for each minor downtime
  • teach/learn someone a Rite, gift, Lore or another stat (mentor)
  • Making talens, orbs, or making minor items of low to average quality
  • Background kinfolk task. Minor tasks IE purchase things

MAJOR Downtime

You get 1 MAJOR downtime Action per week. This represents time (a minimum of 8 hours) put into doing this action such as:

  • research projects
  • investigate a plot device/person
  • work on an advanced stat
  • work on getting contacts/influences/allies
  • Building anything
  • Backgrounds Kinfolk major tasks IE Shadowing someone, investigating a crime

Experience is earned every week by being active on the chat and most be claimed.

Facedown Challenge

Facedown is one of the MOST COMMON forms of challenge in Garou society. It is often impromptu and doesn't usually need a Master of Challenge but a philodox or galliard might want to watch over it.

Pure Breed is not added to rage rolls for Facedown challenge. Per the creators of WtA, using rage for Facedown is a glimpse of the beast, not a social roll.

Also when choosing the pool to use for this challenge, it is Charisma + Intimidation + Pure Breed (if applicable) vs. Rage, whichever is higher. So Charisma 2 + Intimidation 2 + Pure Breed 2 is 6, and a Rage of 7 the Rage is rolled instead.


Fetish Crafting

1 - Ask the ST's before you decide you want to craft something that is a specific fetish from a book.
2 - Fetish Ritemaster (The Shifter with and using Rite of the Fetish) must be within 2 levels of the Fetish Level

ST Note: There are some Fetishes that the team will not allow for PC play under certain ranks.

Fosterns will not be given completed Klaives/Hammer.
Adrens can earn their Klaive/Hammer bodies to be completed - this represents them being earned.


Gifts

  • Gifts cannot be used via pack link, Mind Speak, or mobile phone.

Learning Gifts:

  • You will NOT need a scene for level 1 & 2 gifts
  • In Out of Tribe Gifts: You must have the Lore equal to the gift level (Lore 1= Rank 1 gift)
  • Out of Auspice Gifts: Allowed – Renown Hit at the time of learning Only
  • Out of Breed Gifts: Allowed
  • Spirits need to be spoke to in Spirit Speech for clear communication.
  • We allow players to learn 1 gift per week (you can submit 2 per XP spend cycle which happens on the first and the 15th)

Either Empathy (per W20) or Medicine (Per Revised) will be accepted for this roll.

Scent of True Form

With a Successful Roll; diff 8, and 2 suxx the gift user can tell if someone is a Pre-Change.

Battle Cry

This gift adds the bonus to the initiative, it does not add the amount of dice rolled for the initiative. Whatever the Garou scores for suxx on this gift adds to the initiative of allies.

Strength of Purpose

  • Usable ONLY Once PER DAY

Seizing the Edge

  • This gift negates single tied rolls but not extended rolls when used during Extended Contested Rolls (Like the Roll Over Gift or Facedown)

Speech of the World

  • Is useable in Sign Languages

Altered Rites:

Rite of Binding

  • When used to create talens, onle one success is needed. All Talens are good for the time period of one month from creation.

Must be witnessed by an ST, and used the Rules found in w20 Page 280 to 281

Kinfolk

Kinfolk are not just breeding stock for the Garou. They actually play an important role in Garou Society. While many kinfolk do not grow up knowing what they are, some never known, they still have a valid place in society besides producing children. Please read the kinfolk book and note that W20 kinfolk are not treated as badly as they were in previous editions of the game. However, they are expected to treat their Garou peers with respect. Those that do not, may be punished or make Garou angry. IC actions get IC prizes. Remember this is NOT Care Bears.

Through IC Advancements and Role-Play our Kinfolk are now currently allowed, and encouraged, to hold Assistant Sept Positions. These Sept positions are the same Status as the main position -1 Sept Status.

Kinfolk Gifts

  • Does not Require a ST scene
  • No Restriction on how many (can only earn 1 gift per week and they are still 15-25xp each)
  • Must have an Adren Theurge summon the spirit and vouch for them; and the Adren must agree to it in their downtime.

Kinfolk may learn:

  • ANY level 1 Auspice gift
  • ANY level 1 Tribal gift
  • ANY level 1 Homid gift

Kinfolk and Guardians

Guardians are not a thing in the books, on line play has made this a thing among other games. It is not going to be used here without the Garou taking the Ward Flaw. A kinfolk is expected to conduct themselves appropriately, to include follow the litany the best a kinfolk can, any time a kinfolk is in trouble it must be handled by their family member or a Philodox of their tribe of Fostern Rank or higher. The Garou related to the kinfolk may also take some form of punishment for the kinfolk's mistake.

Kinfolk “Pack Members”

While Kinfolk have “Packs” of their own according to W20, some players have preferred to invite their mates or best friends into packs as kinfolk. This is allowed, but they do not gain the benefits of Totem without the proper Rites.

Kinfolk Renown

  • Kinfolk can gain and lose renown. They gain at a slower restricted rate (1/3) than Garou; and they lose it twice as fast. Kinfolk must have a garou that is NOT their mate bring the deeds before a Galliard to have these recognized; an ST must be present and the ST will make a blind roll based upon the spirits accepting or denying this request.
  • Renown does NOT make a kinfolk an equal but it does garner an additional respect with the garou and the kinfolk they interact with.

* Kinfolk with renown gain +1 dice on all POSITIVE social dealings with kinfolk and Garou
* Kinfolk with renown lose an additional level of renown if they hold positions. (Instead of x2, x3)
* Garou DO NOT get additional dice based on renown. They get rank, they get gifts for their renown and their renown is much easier earned.


Lores

We use Lores here on Sheridon. However the 1st dot of any lore is always free. This is because you cannot control Bill-Joe-Bob from talking to you about all the things he knows about Vampire, Fae, etc. So this will cost you nothing but you do have to prove it was provided by a character that is NOT yours.

XP Cost:

1st Dot - Free with PROOF & BOTH PC's agree.
2nd to 5th Dot- Exp equal to the level of Lore being learned.

Rolling:

Additionally Lores will be rolled like this:
Relevant Lore + Intelligence diff 8
- 1 for every rank gained after Cliath
Therefore if you are trying to learn something about a Fostern or Rank 2 the roll is diff 7, An Adren is diff 6, Athro is diff 5 and Elders are diff 4
- This is to reflect the deeds that this particular person has done and earned their rank making them more "famous" in garou or tribal society.

Info you gain:

You will gain at least 1 relevant piece of information per suxx pertaining to this Lore

Note: Without WYRM LORE 2 on your sheet you do not know anything about specific Wyrm Companies. Anything above Wyrm Lore 2 will taint you regularly. We will not allow purchase above Wyrm Lore 2 at this time.


Merits

Some Merits don't work so well as written in a chat environment. The following are some of our changes.
- All new players get the Common Sense Merit at zero cost at creation.

Altered Merits

Recognize Garou/Fera (Kinfolk Only)
- Kinfolk with this merit can pick out their own 'type' of shifters without a roll. Other shifters show up as shifters but they are not what that kinfolk is familiar with.
Example: Bastet kinfolk can tell a Bastet but not a Corax or Garou. A Garou kin can tell Garou but that a shifter is specifically a Bastet or Corax.


Numen

  • Must be defined
  • Is capped at 4
  • The dice bonus from Numen is usable once every 2 weeks (1-14, 15-30).
  • The charm bonus from Numen is usable once per month (Sept/Oct/Nov/etc).

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is not easy on people and can be perilous and will last a full 40 weeks. Therefore kinfolk who request pregnancy in game may be subject to complications up to and including miscarriage or maternal and fetal death. This will be discussed at the time of the request and based upon the characters Stamina. Additionally - extreme stress, combat, and other behaviors can induce early birth or miscarriage and if those situations arise, the following may be altered on a case by case basis. Pregnancy Loss (not complication) is not tto be done without ST/Player conversation and agreement as this can be a touchy subject.

Birth Control and other things intended to stop conception does not work if one (or both) characters are Garou; Birth control pills may involve Wyrm Taint & Herbal remedies are not 100%. This is based upon the spiritual essence that is a Garou. Players are expected to request appropriate pregnancy rolls as necessary [i.e. you have sex, you get pregnancy rolls]. Only one of the partners need to contact the ST team for pregnancy roll discussions to begin with the couple.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT A KID DO NOT ASK FOR A ROLL.

Note: Any players participating in non-consensual ERP/Sex scenes are subject to staff investigation pending punitive action.

Pregnancy Rolls

(Players may only Request Rolls to be done once a week; week starts over on Monday)

  • 1st Roll: Pregnancy is based upon 1D100, and at a roll of 68% or higher.

** "Pull out" methods, currently nursing children & Herbalist Supplements will be rolled at 80% or higher.

  • 2nd Roll: 2d10 = Singleton Birth: 0-84%, Twins 85-00. Triplets will not be permitted in game.
  • 3rd Roll: 2d10 percentage change of trueborn based on Kinfolk|Garou mating base 10% (+5% for every dot of Kinfolk's Pure Breed), Kinfolk|kinfolk 1% (+1% for each PB of the kinfolk)
  • Once informed, the ST's will make roll and then tag the sheets appropriately and inform the parties.

Note: Just like their domesticated canine counter parts, which are used for service type work; Garou can also pick up on this change in their mates or female kin and Garou. Pregnancy hormones start almost immediately IRL. To pick up this change a Garou must be in lupus/hispo/or crinos.

  • 3 days after conception: Perception + Primal Urge, diff 9 (Before Modifiers).

Physical Rolls by pregnant Characters are impacted in the following ways:

1st trimester (up till 12 weeks) - No effect on Physical actions
2nd trimester (12-28 weeks ) [Kinfolk: +1 difficulty] [Garou: No effect]
3rd trimester (29-40 weeks) [+2 difficulty, -1 dice] [Garou: +1 diff when in Homid]
W20 notes that Garou rarely if ever miscarry. They are not put on 'bedrest'. They are creatures who regenerate.

Pure Breed

Kinfolk

  • Pure Breed is not just how likely a kinfolk will produce trueborn offspring, it has social implications for rolls. When dealing with other kinfolk or Trueborn these dice add to Social rolls.

Kinfolk can 'recognize' breeding in others by rolling Perc+Garou/Fera Lore, diff 7

  • Kinfolk ONLY When taken as a mate to another tribe, you do not lose your pure breed - you do however lose the ability to use it as Social Dice.

Mixed Pure Breed Matings

Offspring of these unions produce children that are of the highest pure breed parent; -1 dot. (in the event of kinfolk)
Example: Shadow Lord PB 5, Child of Gaia PB 2 = Child with Shadow Lord PB 4

Offspring of these unions produce children that are of the shifters pure breed; -1 dot.
Example: Shadow Lord PB 3 Garou, Child of Gaia kinfolk PB 4 = Child with Shadow Lord PB 2.

Garou Kinfolk / Fera Matings & Fera Kinfolk / Garou Matings

Offspring of these unions produce children that are of the shifter parent.

Using Pure Breed on Rolls

The book does a terrible job outlining when Pure Breed is used. Sheridon will be using Pure Breed ONLY for ANY Social Rolls.

Rage

Werewolves are creatures of rage, that rage fuels their emotions. Players are expected to make appropriate rage rolls as necessary. This is a game of SAVAGE HORROR. Such as listed on W20 page 261: Embarrassment, humiliation, strong emotions, extreme hunger, confinement, helplessness, being taunted, large quantities of silver, being wounded, seeing a packmate or family member wounded or dead.

Rage Frenzy House Rule

  • If in a scene a player who has less than 4 rage, makes a rage roll and gets suxx equal to their rage; Storytellers will award 1 Temporary Rage.

** Will continue to stack till such time a frenzy takes place
** Example: 1 Permanent Rage = 1 suxx on frenzy check = +1 Temporary Rage
** Temporary Rage earned in this fashion will last for only 24 hours.

Rage and Children

Children born of Garou and kinfolk will not be affected by the rage of the Garou family member, or any pack member that is of the equal rage or less than its Garou parent.

Regaining Gnosis

  • Meditating at the Caern lowers this diff by 4.

Per the W20 book (Page 146), you DO NOT need to meditate at a Bawn or Caern. This CAN be done in the forest and the Umbra. Depending on where you choose to do it, might depend on if there is additional things that might take place (such as hostile spirits).

Regaining Willpower

Willpower will be regained at the rate of 2 point per day. Additional Willpower may be restored at ST discretion for other reasons, do not ask you will be notified if this applies.

Renown

Renown is an important part of Shifter Society. The General renown sample charts are not the limited amount of renown that can be earned - or lost. There can be other things

Stepping Sideways

Going into the Umbra became much more difficult in W20. A SHINY OBJECT SUCH AS A MIRROR IS REQUIRED TO STEP INTO THE UMBRA Unless you have the gift that allows you to spend gnosis and sidestep.

Thought Posting

Do your best to not thought post – if you do thought post, please note that others can understand the gist of your thoughts because of micro expressions and thus can make a Perception + Empathy, diff 8 roll.

Willpower Usage

While the book states that Willpower can be used on any roll, there are a few exceptions that we do use here in Sheridon. The reason for this is because our Willpower is "Sacred" meaning that 1'st do not take away from WP spending.

  1. Willpower cannot be used on Gifts
  2. Willpower cannot be used on Ancestors Rolls
